Bath Cycling Club enjoyed another great cycling holiday in Mallorca in October taking in the beautiful Andratx to Pollensa Route (AKA the Big Daddy Challenge) with 114kms of craggy, dramatic cliffs and sparkling sea. It goes without saying it had to be done (and re done by some!). It was not disappointing with its most challenging climb of Puig Major, 14kms, 6.2% gradient and 828m elevation.
Mallorca is a Cycling Heaven, flat or hilly, and plans are underway to go again next April and Oct 2020. BCC have now got Bike Boxes for members to hire on a first come first serve basis, alternatively there are numerous bike rental shops, or dare I say e-bike shops, where you can tackle the hills without the burn, unless you are Hilary (she knows I’m writing this) and rent a scooter and break your ankle on a trek to the lighthouse of Cap de Formentor. The moral of the story is to cycle every day and never mind the scrambling. Thankfully Hilary is making a recovery and is gasping to get back to make her mark on the Big Daddy Challenge.
