Another beautiful night at Odd Down brought out a full field in the 3/4s with 8 Bath CC riders. The team did an excelent job in covering the breaks for the first 15 mins, making sure that no one got away.
Then after 15 mins of racing Simon Kerr went for the long one. A Bristol RC rider went with him, but could not hold his wheel. The rest of the team tried their best blocking manouvers and Si maintained his 10-15 second advantage as the laps ticked by. Whatever we did the catch seemed inevitable and on the final bend the peloton finally made contact – but Si dug deep to hold on to 5th. 8 Laps out front at Odd Down is a hard way to get 5th. Thanks to Gary who did tireless work as a domestique in his last 3/4s race.
Behind him Leon was leading the bath train in 3rd place with Ruan and Joel close behind. Just as Si was caught, Leon’s tyre went bang, leon ended up on the grass and Ru’s and Joels sprints were disrupted. Ru held on for 9th and Joel 10th.
