Bike Bath is weekend of 28th/29th June, there are 30/ 60 & 100 mile routes on both days. Although the routes might be well known to some of you, it is very well organised event with some great food stops. Also its a great opportunity to promote the club, meet new riders and support local events. Bath CC will receive £5 for every person entered. http://www.bikebath.co.uk/home
If there are any Bath CC riders who like the idea of riding Bike Bath in 2 weeks time as a Bath CC group enjoying the support of friends or the shelter of a known wheel, could we suggest meeting at the start (ready signed on) at 7.30 for the 100 mile event or 8.30 for the 60 mile route on both days. Club kit would be great publicity. I’ll happily commit to being there at 7.30 on the Saturday & 8.30 on the Sunday for anyone who wants to ride at a conversational pace (the autobus), but if there are any of the faster guys who would like to wheel about together, perhaps the same arrangement would work.
Last weekend, the event on the U7b went ahead, and all three Bath riders recorded a time. Tom Ryan was the fastest of the three, covering the 10 miles in 25:11. Tony Thorne came second, with 27:00 exactly. Alan Pickard was the third of the three, with 32:16.
The Bristol South CC event on the U7B that was cancelled on the 25/4/14, has no been rearranged for Sunday 27/7/14 9:00am. Due to changes in the rules last year, fresh entrants can be accepted to this event, so if interested get your entries into Andy Legge.
P.S. I believe that Frome/Westbury & maybe Sommer Valley are doing an interclub down on the Frome course (or one variant of it). Believe that details have been sent through to the committee? It may be worth putting a few lines into the newsletter. Let me know if you didn’t get the email from Andy Henderson, and I’ll see what details I can find.
There is a full set of club runs this weekend and full description of club rides can be found on the Bath CC website.
Ride leaders would like to remind everyone that:
There are other rides that happen during the week. The longer slower day rides are organised by the Tuesday social group. Subscribe to [email protected] by sending an email to [email protected] to keep up with details.
3/4 race – fast pace on a nice sunny evening George was regularly attacking throughout Race went to the usual sprint but same crash details as last week – Pete sprinted thru to 11th
E12 – Gary made his debut in the E12 race. Constant rapid accelerations made for a very hard race throughout more like Odd down than 3/4 CC races! Gary managed to survive for 30 mins then confidence grew as we passed 40mins, 50, then the hour. Top 10 start of Last lap and still top 10 as we hit the finish straight but had been forced wide so has to start sprint early Not a lot left for final 200mtrs so finished in top 20
There were 9 Bath Riders in the 3/4 race. Great conditions warm and sunny with a decent wind to keep it interesting. Ruan and Simon Kerr what active for the first 25 mins, with a Bath rider in every break. Unfortunately a rider crashed at the mid way point and the race was abandoned.
Next week 2/3s race together and a 4th Cat Race. Both races fully booked, but normally entry on the line if you get there early. Some great photos at https://www.flickr.com/photos/dynamitedotorg/sets/72157645115082104
Simon Oddy off to the Milan San Remo Sportive to ride on Sunday 8th.
Jonathon Corp and Mario Pavin doing the 140 mile.
Delayed to the 13th July. Jonathon Corp entered.
Following the successful club trip in 2012 to Claviers, Howard Burton and Stella Dixon would be delighted to host a second trip to Claviers for riders and partners. Claviers is some 50 miles west of Nice in the Var department and is part of Provence. There is great riding with quiet roads and stunning scenery. Accommodation can be either in chambres d’hôte (B&B), apartments or houses in or near Claviers. Easyjet fly a daily morning return flight to Nice from Bristol. Howard and Stella can arrange pickup from Nice. The proposed dates are Monday 15th to Monday 22nd September 2014. For further information please contact Howard [email protected]
Darren has confirmed the booking for 3 sessions (unfortunately there wasn’t a suitable time for 1 of the other sessions) and these are:
Darren is giving his time for free, the cost of the sessions will be £3 to contribute to the circuit hire costs. Any shortfall will be met by the club. The sessions will be open to Bath CC members first but also their guests, with Bath CC members probably getting a reduced price as an added incentive for the guests to join up! I’m thinking of concentrating on group riding skills, so something along the lines of:
Don’t worry if these sound too scary or too easy, they’re all about building confidence and skills. I’ve given sessions like these to 8-15 year old riders and they’ve improved massively over just a few weeks. If these session ideas don’t sound suitable, then let me know what you want and I’ll change them to suit. Can you please circulate this email, and get any interested riders to email me on: [email protected]
